About DTF

APPLIATION AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS ARE AT BOTTOM OF PAGE

DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfers are a method of printing designs onto a special film, which is then transferred onto fabric using a heat press. This technique is known for producing vibrant, detailed designs on a wide variety of textiles, including cotton, polyester, and blends. DTF transfers are versatile, durable, and can be applied to both light and dark garments, offering a cost-effective solution for custom apparel and other printed items.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Key Characteristics:

Printing Process:
DTF involves printing a design onto a special film using specialized DTF inks and then applying a heat-activated adhesive powder to the back of the printed design.

Transferring:
The film with the design is then placed onto the desired fabric and heat-pressed, causing the adhesive to melt and bond the design to the garment.

Material Versatility:
DTF transfers can be applied to a wide range of fabrics, including cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, and even leather.

Color Capabilities:
DTF printing allows for full-color designs, including white, which is printed as a base layer to ensure vibrant colors on any garment color.

Durability:
DTF transfers are known for their durability, withstanding regular washing and use.

Cost-Effectiveness:
DTF is considered a cost-effective method, particularly for those doing small runs or on-demand printing, as it eliminates the need for pre-printed inventory.

Ease of Application:
DTF transfers are relatively easy to apply with a heat press, making it accessible for both businesses and individuals.

In essence, DTF transfers offer a versatile, durable, and vibrant solution for creating custom apparel and other printed items, with the ability to print on a wide range of materials and colors..

DTF Heat Press Instruction Guide

  1. Position Transfer: Ink side down, film side up. Align & tape if needed.  No cover sheet necessary.
  2. Set Heat Press: 300°F for 100% cotton.... 285°F for cotton/poly blends....can work down as low as 270°F for 100% poly, Medium–Firm Pressure, 15 sec.
  3. First Press: Immediate Hot Peel in a smooth fashion roll peeling from corner to corner yields the smoothest results.
  4. Second Press:  For the finish press we have found that the best result is done by covering the print with a heavy cotton material (old heavy cotton tshirt) and press at the same temperature and time as original application.
  5. Handling: Let cool before folding. Wash cold, inside-out, low heat dry.  Never use fabric softeners on any printed garments....it is a stringent and it will destroy your hard work.

Pro Tips:
- Test press times/temps for each brand.
- Even pressure = even adhesion.
- Do not stretch while hot.
- Batch shirts for efficiency.
